An Evening With Jim

On November 23rd, 2019 we spent the evening celebrating with Jim Noice as he stepped down from the Upper Hutt Musical Theatre (UHMT) committee after being involved for the past 43 years.

Back in August 1976 he came onto the UHMT scene as the Director of Oklahoma! but he didn’t stop there. He continued on directing, musically directing, and/or being the lead pianist in many shows such as Brigadoon, Oliver!, Chicago, Sound of Music, and I Love You Because.

Jim became an invaluable member of UHMT as he not only dedicated his time and expertise as a director and pianist but also looked after the theatre financially as the treasurer for many years. A task which entails a lot of hours behind the scenes. He received the Upper Hutt City Civic Award in 2013 and a Musical Theatre New Zealand Merit Award in 2015. He has also been awarded life membership at UHMT.

We were honoured to celebrate with him last year. As many previous cast members came to perform songs with him throughout the night. There was lots of laughs and great cheer. One night simply doesn’t say how much we appreciate the work Jim put in so thank you Jim for a great 43 years with UHMT.
